The Way Forward

Our 2030 Goals

Our commitment for the next 5 years is bold but our experience has shown us that inclusive growth, led by women is achievable and sustainable. Each additional woman we empower, creates a ripple effect within her community that brings us closer to a more equitable and prosperous India.

With continued support, innovation and collaborative action, we are confident that we will realise our vision and fundamentally change the socio-economic landscape of India’s last mile villages, over the next five years.

Map active states

Over the next five years, we will:

This will involve exponential growth of our network across multiple states – recruiting and training women across India and the Rural South

Our goal is to serve 50 million rural households with essential goods and services by 2030

We will continue to work with our delivery partner, Frontier Markets to enhance the Meri Saheli platform – incorporating AI-driven features (in local languages), to assist women in building their businesses

A major shift will be to build a fully-fledged inclusion ladder for rural women. Our goal is for every Saheli woman to have a credit score and access to affordable financing options – effectively integrating into India’s formal ecomony and all the opportunities that embodies.

We plan to scale our She Leads Bharat Mahila Kisaan for gender climate insurance and agriculture and She Leads Bharat Health & Wellness initiatives (partnering with healthcare companies to bring telehealth, nutrition and sanitary products to rural homes).

By 2030 we envision our Saheli’s delivering solutions aligned with at least 10 UN SDGs, making them truly agents of change in their communities

By 2030 we hope that She Leads Bharat will serve as a blueprint for others, that can be adopted in other countries and contexts in the Global South, exemplifying how public-private-philanthropic partnerships can unlock the potential of women, at the base of the pyramid.

Women sat in a circle listening intently

Together with our partners, investors, donors and Sahelis, we’re not just building a marketplace, we’re driving a movement for a thriving Bharat/India.

Woman sat on shop floor

When I first stepped out of the house to become a Solar Saheli, people whispered, ‘She’s breaking purdah, stepping out in the village like a salesperson.

I believed that light is every household's right. Today, I’m not just selling solar torches, lanterns and induction stoves, I’m helping my village move from darkness to dignity.
